- Apparently, the times aren’t a-changing as much as we’d like: it’s Banned Books Week, and the ALA (among other sponsoring groups) has a handy list of a few of the books banned in 2012-13.
- One of the worst parts of novel-writing (so I’m told) is summarizing what you’ve labored to say at length. Here’s writer Askold Melnyczuk on the task.
- October is National Reading Group Months (good news for those of us with literary wives or dragon sex on the horizon); here’s another handy list of recommended books (including Louise Erdrich’s superb The Round House, which I wrote about early in the summer).
For some reason I’m quite excited that it’s Banned Books Week, though nothing on my current reading list has been banned 😉 Thanks for the links! I’m going to be posting this week (I hope) on Americanah, which is on the list for the reading groups recommendations. I will check out your post for The Round House, which I would like to read when I get the chance.
It’s sooooooo good! I hope you’ll like it when you have a chance to read it!
